It's Time... To Admit That I Want Donald Trump To Fail

It's true. I want Donald Trump to fail miserably as President. Now, before you just view me as a sore loser or decide to send me hate mail, hear me out. I have always voted for the person I thought to be the best candidate for the office involved. I've voted for Democrats and I've voted for Republicans, and will continue to do so. I've never felt that I would agree with every decision that the individual I voted for made. I also believe that you can never be certain of a candidate's performance, even if they've held the office before. Regarding Kamala Harris, again, I voted for her because I felt she was the best candidate for the office of the Presidency. Was I positive that she would've made a great president? Absolutely not. I simply felt that she was the better choice for me and for America. I still feel that way.

Now, we can debate all day about the issues facing our country. We can discuss the economy, foreign policy, immigration, abortion, and a host of other issues. However, issues aren't the driving factor as to why I want Trump to fail. I disagree with his positions on many things, but I'm certainly not an expert on any of them. As a matter of fact, if it were just the issues that were in play here, I would hope that the stategies employed by his administration would improve the lives of most Americans. I doubt it, but I'd be hoping.

The real reason I want Donald Trump to fail is that I believe that he's a horrible person. I knew very little about him until he announced his candidacy for the 2016 election. Then, it began. He insulted individuals, groups, and races. He threatened and lied. He encouraged conspiracy theories and a violent protest that resulted in deaths and destruction. Decency, honor, and fairness mean nothing to him. I will say, though, that he's good at one thing. He's convinced millions of Americans that he's like one of them. That's frightening, also.

If Donald Trump is viewed as a successful President, then it surely means that the qualities I most admire in a person mean nothing to those who voted for him. I find that a sad commentary on all of us.
